More information about this artwork

Picasso enjoyed an exceptionally long and fruitful career and produced an estimated 50,000 artworks throughout his life spanning all media. Experimenting with different styles and techniques, he is regarded as a founding father of Cubism, an art style inspired by the geometric shapes that come together to create larger forms and figures. He employed these techniques in sculptures, paintings, drawings, and ceramics, and many other artists drew inspiration from this movement.

This lithograph features an important woman in Pablo Picasso’s life, Inès Sassier. She isn’t as well-known as his other muses because she was not his lover or wife, but she was a major part of his life for three decades, filling various roles from domestic aide to advisor. This image portrays Inès and her son Gérard, captured by Picasso at his studio in Paris. Picasso’s work is among the most expensive in the world, and several of his pieces hold records across several auction houses for fetching the highest sale prices in different categories.
