Andres Serrano

Andres Serrano is an American photographer mostly known for his controversial use of bodily fluids and biological matter in his work. Piss Christ’ is his most famous and emblematic piece, featuring a photograph of a crucifix submerged in a bucket containing the artist’s urine. The artist is famous for his provocative and fearless approach to taboo subjects such as religious iconography, eschatology or violence. His works open a space for debate around the concept of offensive, transgressive and blasphemous art.

Andres Serrano is also notable for his artwork creations for the world-known heavy metal band Metallica.
