Artist Information

Anton Corbijn is a Dutch photographer, film and music video director. He is the creative director behind some of the most influential music videos for prominent artists such as U2’s ‘One’, Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ and Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’. Being discovered around 1975 when he took photographs of the Dutch musician Herman Brood while he was playing at a café in the Netherlands, Corbijn’s photography has grown beyond music over the years.

Corbijn is famous for shooting black-and-white portraits, in which dust, darkness and mystery work together to reveal the unpolished, raw and authentic self of his sitters. Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bjork, Miles Davis, Joy Division but also Robert de Niro, Clint Eastwood and Stephen Hawking have been the subject of his iconic imagery.
