Alejandro Piñeiro Bello (b. 1990, Havana) is a Cuban contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in the poetic intersection of abstraction and memory. Working primarily with oil on linen, he creates compositions that balance gestural spontaneity with a meticulous attention to surface and texture. Piñeiro Bello’s works often explore the resonance of place and nature, translating personal impressions into painterly forms that invite contemplation. His visual language blends vibrant chromatic choices with subtle atmospheres, allowing viewers to enter a space where cultural identity and sensorial experience meet.
Palma Susurrada (2023) exemplifies this approach with a canvas measuring 50 × 60 cm, rendered in oil on linen and signed on the verso. The work’s layered brushstrokes and nuanced tonal shifts evoke the whispering presence of a palm, simultaneously intimate in scale yet expansive in its sense of depth. Through its title and execution, the piece suggests a dialogue between nature and memory, capturing not only the physicality of its subject but also its lyrical, almost spiritual resonance. With its rich painterly surface and contemplative mood, Palma Susurrada stands as a strong example of Piñeiro Bello’s ability to merge materiality and metaphor within a compact, impactful composition.
