This screenprint comes from an edition of 60 released in 2018 under the auspices of the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The work, originally created in 1982-1982, draws its central inspiration from the 1900 Boxer Rebellion in China, but incorporates the boxers of the late 20th Century to bring a more modern context. In this work, Basquiat uses English letters as well as Chinese characters to describe the boxers as well as the world around them.
