More information about this artwork

Jonas Wood is a Los Angeles-based contemporary artist known for his vibrant, graphic compositions that merge the traditions of still life, portraiture, and interior scenes with a distinctly modern sensibility. Drawing influence from sources as diverse as Matisse, David Hockney, Japanese woodblock prints, and everyday life, Wood creates layered, collage-like images that are both familiar and abstracted. His work often features domestic objects—plants, pots, textiles, and furniture—flattened into bold patterns and colors, resulting in pieces that feel at once personal and universal. Wood’s embrace of both painting and printmaking has made his work highly sought after by collectors and institutions alike.

His 2014 artwork Untitled (Red) is a striking example of his signature floral still lifes. Created using a combination of lithograph and screenprint techniques on 50 oz Coventry Rag paper, the piece features a stylized potted plant rendered in bold red and black tones. Measuring 48 x 37 1/8 inches and part of a limited edition of 50, each print is signed and numbered by the artist. The work captures Wood’s unique ability to distill everyday subjects into flat planes of color and texture, while preserving a sense of intimacy and energy. With its confident use of color and clean, graphic lines, Untitled (Red) stands out as an iconic example of Wood’s exploration of memory, space, and form through botanical imagery.
