Former tattoo artist, Lola Gil is an American painter known for her unique narrative escapism. Through a fantastical and surrealistic lens, a sense of mystery and ambiguity allows the viewer to create its very own story and meaning. Although rendered in a dark palette, Lola’s paintings are meant to provide a safe and tranquil sanctuary to escape from reality. This piece features a cast of the artist’s earlier creatures, permeating the whole canvas with an oneiric feeling. Right before dawn or sunrise, the fiery sky makes us feel at ease and give us hope.
